First Session
Before Your First Session
1. Assessments and resources: The Owl Centre has many assessments available for therapists' use (mainly speech and language assessments). Many are shared amongst the team, and some are available for you to borrow long term. These are on loan and need to be returned to the Owl Centre if your work with us comes to an end.
If you need an assessment or resources sent to you to undertake an appointment, email emily@theowltherapycentre.co.uk and copy in nicola@theowltherapycentre.co.uk. Provide as much notice as possible, and at least 2 weeks.
2. Email account: We will create an Owl Centre email account and send you the details. It is advised to add this to your mobile device. If you need help, contact us on office@theowltherapycentre.co.uk or via Slack on @Rods The Owl Centre, and let us know if you use an iPhone or Android device.
3. ID badges: we order these in batches. Yours will be posted directly to you after a batch order is placed. If you need one urgently, Contact us on office@theowltherapycentre.co.uk or via Slack on @Rods The Owl Centre.
4. Venues: If you need to use an Owl Centre venue to offer in-house therapy, contact your team leader to find out which venues are available, when, and how you book a slot.
At Your First Session
5. Registration/Consent Form: Before or at your first session with a new client, you must ask them to complete our registration form and provide their consent to therapy. This form can be found in the Resources menu option on the Nest. Contact us on office@theowltherapycentre.co.uk or via Slack on @Rods The Owl Centre if you need a copy sent to you.
After Your First Session
6. Session summary sheet: If you provide therapy to a child without the client (usually the parent) being present, you must complete a session summary sheet to send to them. This, again, can be found in the Resources menu option.
7. Assessment reports: in general, assessment reports should be written and sent to the client within 7 days of the assessment (up to 2 weeks for Clinical Psychologists and Educational Psychologists). If you cannot meet this time frame, it is your responsibility to let the client know (keep him in the loop!). The reports can be stored on the Nest on the Edit Patient screen.
If you write a tribunal report, you must share it with Nicola (nicola@theowltherapycentre.co.uk) before sending it to the client.
8. Proceeding with therapy: If, after an initial assessment, the client decides to proceed with therapy, this can be arranged between you and him. You do not need to inform your team leader, but of course contact her if you need any assistance.
